Laying Track Across The Southwest
Amidst the bustling landscape of travel innovation, a beacon of connectivity emerges as plans for the $12 billion high-speed passenger rail line between Las Vegas and the Los Angeles area gain momentum. With officials projecting millions of eager ticket-buyers to board trains by 2028, anticipation surges for a new era of swift and convenient travel. Promising to redefine the boundaries of mobility, this ambitious project heralds a multitude of benefits for travelers, offering a myriad of compelling reasons to eagerly anticipate the imminent launch of this transformative train service.
In April 2024, work began on a $12 billion high-speed light rail connecting Las Vegas and the Los Angeles area, with passengers slated for travel as early as 2028 - just in time for the Los Angeles Olympics. Brightline West hopes to lay 218 miles of new track between the Las Vegas strip and Rancho Cucamonga, essentially the entire distance of Interstate 15.
The Foundation of a New Industry
Following the hopeful success of their light rail from the City of Angels to Sin City, Brightline hopes to connect other US cities that are too close for flying and too far for driving. If Brightline's gambit works out it could prove to be a massive shift in the travel industry.
Why LA To Vegas?
One of the main reasons that Brightline is heading into construction of this train line from Vegas to LA is the extreme amount of open space between the two cities. The company claims that the electric-powered trains will cut travel time in half, from four hours down to two. Hopefully this will not only remove congestion on I-15 but it will also make a significant impact on the greenhouse gas emissions.
