Reducing Ireland's Carbon Footprint

In a significant milestone for renewable energy, wind farms in Ireland contributed to a record-breaking 35% of the country's total electricity supply in 2023, as reported by Wind Energy Ireland's annual report. This remarkable achievement not only highlights the growing prominence of wind energy but also yields substantial economic and environmental benefits.

The impact of this achievement extends beyond reducing Ireland's carbon footprint. It resulted in a remarkable €1.6 billion in savings, both north and south of the border, by diminishing the need to import costly gas and purchase carbon credits for electricity generation. Additionally, it prevented over 5 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, equivalent to removing 1.9 million cars from Irish roads.
