Trump Promotes American Revolution Over the Left’s Marxist Revolution

To say Trump’s 2020 Constitution Day speech struck a nerve is to say a hydrogen bomb is a large firecracker. Following the address at the National Archives, the headlines from the media approached the same fever pitch of a university shutting down a “safe space” and taking away the Play-Doh:
ABC wrote of his speech, “Trump delivers a racially divisive speech at National Archives”;
The Independent wrote, “Trump warns of left-wing ‘segregation’ and pushes ‘patriotic education’ in a bizarre speech at National Archives”; and
One of the more memorable lines from the CNN article was, “President Donald Trump railed against what he described as ‘the liberal indoctrination of America’s youth’ during a Constitution Day speech on Thursday, marking his latest attempt to inflame the culture wars raging in America ahead of the election.”
The Independent added its spin on the truth when it said, “He openly ignored the United States’ complex history of slavery and appeared to appeal to parts of his base that deal in widely dismissed conspiracy theories.”
And Vox put this statement in: “In short, not only is the summer’s national reckoning over police violence and racism unnecessary in his book, but it’s also un-American.”
Trump’s speech called out the current move by the Left to rewrite American history through the New York Times’ 1619 Project, which attempts to ensconce slavery as the pivotal event in our history and reason for its success. Trump criticized “Critical Race Theory” and announced the creation of a 1776 Commission to “encourage our educators to teach our children about the miracle of American history and make plans to honor the 250th anniversary of our founding.”
1776 Unites is one of the groups involved in the 1776 Commission. Its goal is to “shape the American future by drawing on the best of its past.” 1776 Unites offers thought-provoking articles, student lesson plans, reading manuals, activities, and other resources to showcase African-Americans who have prospered by embracing America’s founding ideals
Created by Bob Woodson and American Enterprise Institute scholar Ian Rowe, “1776 Unites curriculum offers authentic, inspiring stories from American history that show what is best in our national character and what our freedom makes possible even in the most difficult circumstances.”
1776 Unites offers a balanced alternative to the discredited New York Times’ 1619 Project with its anti-American agenda and victimhood status for black Americans. 1619 Project is the brainchild of Times reporter Nikole Hannah-Jones and launched in 2019. Its purpose is to “reframe the country’s history by placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans at the very center of our national narrative.” The curriculum it spawned is now indoctrinating tens of thousands of students across the country, and Oprah Winfrey is planning to generate “an expansive portfolio of films, television series and documentaries, unscripted programming and other forms of entertainment” supporting it.
Long a vocal critic of the 1619 Project, President Trump argued last Thursday that it “rewrites American history to teach our children that we were founded on the principle of oppression, not freedom.”
While Education Secretary Betsy DeVos supports 1776 Unites curriculum, she states:
The federal government, the Department of Education, does not have a role in a national curriculum. The curriculum is best left to the states and local districts at local education agencies. Still, we can talk about a curriculum that actually honors and respects our history and embraces all of the parts of our history and continues to build on that.
While it is not the place of the Federal Government to create a curriculum for our local schools, the fact that Trump is stepping into the fight should encourage the parents, educators, and concerned citizens troubled with the Marxist takeover of our nation’s classrooms.
“We will reclaim our history and our country for citizens of every race, color, religion, and creed. The radicals burning American flags want to burn down the principles enshrined in our founding documents, including the bedrock principle of equal justice under law,” said President Trump.
