PG&E Power Shutdown begins in California amid threat of ‘explosive wildfires’ affecting millions

PG&E, California’s largest utility company began turning off power for millions of its customers in the Northern part of the state early Wednesday.  The shut-off which could last for days is due to the threat of unprecedented wildfire danger due to dry conditions and high winds.   Officials warn this combination can lead to ‘explosive blazes’.  The Public safety Shut-off comes ahead of a ‘widespread severe wind event’ that is predicted to impact 513,000 customers over 22 counties at midnight Wednesday. A second shut-off will occur noon of the same day which will impact another 234,000 customers and another 7 counties.

PG&E said, “ Based on the latest weather forecasts and models,  the company anticipates that this weather event will last through midday Thursday with peak winds..reaching 60 to 70 mph at the high elevations.  The National Weather Service in the San Francisco Bay area posted red-flag warnings. With the combination of strong winds, dry vegetation, and low humidity, residents should be ready to evacuate if needed. “ This is a recipe for explosive fire growth if a fire starts.” Said the agency. “Have your bag ready.”

Illinois’s Bill Would Ban State Employees From Traveling to the Pro-Life States

Heather Hobbs, a pro-life advocate recently spoke with The New American in an interview.  She discussed the new proposed legislation in the state of Illinois that will now bar state employees, officers, board members or agents from traveling using state funds to other states that have passed pro-life legislation.

The Bill’s sponsor, Daniel Didech is a Democrat who represents Illinois’s 59th District and is located in Chicago. He describes pro-life laws as being ‘very dangerous’.  Hobbs said during her interview when asked if there was any danger from a state being pro-life that this is just another political ploy to cause further division among people and parties. There is no danger involved to merit a travel ban.

Today’s quote is from John Adams

“ We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion…Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
