AOC’s Green New Deal Fails in Senate

On Tuesday, Senate Republicans voted against the Green New Deal in a 100 member chamber with 57 voting against the resolution and 43 Democrats only voting ‘present’. Republicans see the Green New Deal as a sign of a far-left shift within the Democratic Party and saw that a vote on the resolution was an opportunity to show the public what Democrats thought about the resolution.

The Green New Deal called for a Soviet Union style 10-year mobilization that would remove all gas-engine cars off the roads, and replace or upgrade every home and commercial building in the United States.  It is estimated that the Green New Deal would cost U.S. taxpayers $93 trillion over the course of mobilization compared to $66 trillion dollars that is the projected total government spending for the next 10 years.

In a recent Harris poll, two out of three Americans view the Green New Deal as a largely socialist policy. Another poll found that 43 percent of Americans said they are less likely to vote for a candidate who backs the Green New Deal, compared to 30 percent who said they were more likely to do so.

Pence Announces Goal For Putting Americans Back On Moon By 2024

Vice President Mike Pence announced Tuesday, March 26 at  NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama that the goal is to put Americans back on the moon within the next five years. Nasa had previously aimed to return astronauts to the lunar surface by the year 2028 after first putting a ‘Gateway’ station in orbit around the moon by 2024.

Daily Border Crossings By Illegal Aliens Hits 13 year High

The number of illegal aliens attempting to cross into the United States from Mexico on a daily basis has now hit a 13-year high says a recent NBC report that cites Customs and Border Protection data. The large number of illegal aliens crossing the border is largely made up of families. On March 12 Border Patrol agents apprehended 2,022 illegal aliens who arrived as families out of a total 3,834 illegal aliens that were apprehended that day.

The surge in border crossings comes on the heels of President trump’s declaration of emergency on the southwest border. In combination with the funds approved for building the wall from Congress, the White House has now secured $8.1 billion for border wall construction. The goal is also to build more detention facilities to hold the large number of illegal aliens and families.

Democrats in Congress still argue there is no emergency along the border with Mexico and recently voted to annul the President’s emergency declaration earlier this month. The President then vetoed the measure. The House of Representatives attempted to override the veto on March 26 but failed to secure enough votes.
