House Ignores ERA Deadline So It Can Be Deemed Ratified. What Now?

  • News

In a move that ignores both logic and basic reading comprehension skills, the House of Representatives passed a resolution Thursday to pretend that the 1982 deadline for ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment never existed. The 232 to 183 vote was almost completely along partisan lines. The only exceptions were five GOP House members who sided with Democrats on the vote.

Senate Votes to Limit War-making Powers of the President

In a bipartisan vote on Thursday, the U.S. Senate voted 55-45 to limit the ability of President Donald Trump to go to war against Iran. The vote came several weeks after Trump’s bold strike, killing an Iranian general. While it is not surprising that Democrats voted to limit Trump — some Democrats would vote against Trump any chance they had — it was noteworthy that eight Republicans joined in supporting the resolution authored by Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia.

The vote to repeal was a unanimous 12-0 on Tuesday and came after a federal court judge blocked the legislation from being enforced. Apparently, the defense of the Second Amendment in America can create some unusual alliances. The coming large-scale pro-gun rally scheduled for Monday in Richmond, Virginia, will include the usual pro-gun groups such as the National Rifle Association, Gun Owners of America, and the Second Amendment Foundation. But reportedly alongside those groups will be a local Virginia chapter of the domestic terrorist group Antifa.

Virginia’s Second Amendment Attack

  • News

Virginia Governor Ralph Northam apologized for his medical school blackface stunt, but he will have much more to apologize for if he signs into law a bill that attacks Virginia citizens' Second Amendment rights. The measure is Senate Bill 16, which would ban "assault" firearms and certain firearm magazines. Since Democrats have seized control of Virginia's General Assembly, they are likely to push hard for strict gun control laws. Those laws will have zero impact on Virginia's criminals and a heavy impact on Virginia's law-abiding citizens who own, or intend to own, semi-automatic weapons for hunting or their protection. As a friend once explained to me, "I carry a gun because I can't carry a cop."
