Getting Into the Fall Spirit
By Sophia Lee – AD Youth Reporter
It’s September, which means it’s time to get into the fall spirit. Soon, the leaves will be turning hundreds of different colors and falling.
For some of you, your favorite holiday is coming up…Christmas! Just kidding, it’s Halloween (I’ve never really understood the hype about it besides getting a lot of candy, but whatever floats your boat).
So to get into the wonderful fall vibes this year, here are the 5 things you can do to enjoy the best season ever!!
#1: Go to an apple orchard
To get into the fall spirit, you have to go to an apple orchard. They are the best and honestly so fun to go to. Plus picking your own apples from a tree is way more fun than just buying them from your local grocery store. There are so many different varieties to choose from as well: granny smith, pink lady, Honeycrisp, sweet tango, red delicious, and many more. Apples make a great snack with all the health benefits. But, if you don’t know what to do with your bag of apples, you can make apple pie, apple crisp, caramel apples, roast pork with an apple, or countless other things.
#2: Go to a haunted house
The second thing to do to get into the fall spirit is to go to a haunted house. It doesn’t matter if it’s the kid-friendly haunted house or haunted houses at amusement parks to give you that Halloween rush! I would not recommend actually trying to trespass into a supposedly “haunted” place because of 1. it’s illegal and 2. it’s not safe.
Above anything else, we want you to be safe while trying to get into the fall vibes this year. I personally am not a fan of anything scary, but it’s sometimes fun to be scared a little. But only a little. You can easily find a haunted house near you by searching it up on google. Disclaimer: you might be spooked out.
#3: Watch a football game
One of the most popular things to do during the fall season is to go to a football game. Fall is football season and everybody is pumped up for their team to win. Whether you’re a college football fan or an NFL football fan, the season has arrived! It’s the perfect time to put on your jersey and cheer on your team. Host parties with your friends as you watch the game on TV or enjoy some school spirit by going to your college football stadium. It’s your choice. Just thinking about it has me excited for grilled hamburgers (maybe hot dogs if that’s your thing). Tailgate parties are going to be happening soon if they aren’t already, so get your party vibes ready! Have a great football season and I hope your team does well!
#4: Drink or eat something pumpkin-spiced
It’s fall season, baby! The pumpkin-spiced foods and drinks are officially back on menus and will be staying until autumn ends. Starbucks is bringing back their pumpkin spiced lattes and pumpkin bread. Pumpkin pies are being baked in grocery stores and several brands are already making limited edition pumpkin spiced foods. Honestly, what’s not to love about pumpkin spiced things. The cinnamon flavors, the orange color, the overall sweetness, just sounds about perfect.
The Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte originated 16 years ago and was actually invented by a Stanford graduate when he was asked to create a new branded espresso for the fall season. I’m telling you, fall vibes!!
#5: Carve a pumpkin
The last item on our list is carving a pumpkin. It’s always so much fun to see all the cool designs people are making to their pumpkin’s and it is definitely a way to get creative this season.
Pumpkin carving is an art because it’s so hard to do evenly, but you can buy templates at Target or Amazon. Man, carving pumpkins have never been easier.
Don’t let yourself be limited by just scary faces, I mean these pumpkins are not just for Halloween, they are for fall! So make a leaf or maybe a pumpkin spiced latte carving because those are things you definitely don’t see carved on to pumpkins. Have fun with it and remember to always be safe!
I hope that this list helped you get some ideas in order for you to get into the fall spirit! There are so many different ways to have fun and enjoy yourself, all you have to do is look around!
